Emails are certainly not the most pressing issue facing our country, but it could be what deletes some presidential hopefuls from the 2016 campaign.
And we’re not just talking about Hillary Clinton and her secret server.
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham should be disqualified as a presidential contender on the sole basis that he has never written an email. Graham said, “I don’t email,” on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“You can have every email I’ve ever sent. I’ve never sent one. I don’t know what that makes me,” he added. It certainly doesn’t make him presidential material.
Either Graham is living in the dark ages or he is trying to avoid having any conversation come back to bite him.
How can a lawmaker be transparent in their work if none of their correspondence has ever been written down? He’s avoided a paper trail.
Some Republicans have come to his defense saying that several very successful businesspeople don’t email because it is a “generational thing.”
I want a president that is innovative and a visionary, not someone who avoids the most common form of communication in the 21st century. Either Graham has his minions do his dirty work or he is technologically inept.
This email issue took center stage when it was uncovered that Clinton used a private email account to conduct all government communications — making it easy for her to cover her tracks at the State Department.
Many have questioned her presidential chops if she works in such secrecy and lacks transparency. She is also a hypocrite. The former ambassador to Kenya was fired under her watch for using personal email for work purposes.
Apparently Vice President Joe Biden got the memo to avoid emails, too. It must have been a verbal warning since his email activity is nonexistent. Biden has only sent TWO emails in his role as vice president.
He certainly makes enough gaffes when he opens his mouth. Imagine what an email chain might look like from the often-unhinged veep.
So who sent me all those emails that came into my inbox from Biden and other lawmakers asking for money and looking to set the record straight? Most likely some staffer in a back office impersonating these pols.
This issue might just trap some candidates in spam filters. If they aren’t going to email their own thoughts, why pay any attention to what they send?
