Cashman: Dems stand for poor, vacation like the wealthy

head shotThe Obamas and Clintons sure know how to summer! And you have to hand it to them. They aren’t letting their position as standard bearers of the party committed to end income equality get in the way.

While the president and his family enjoy a lavish get away in toney Martha’s Vineyard, the woman who wants his job is also indulging in a glitzy summer vacay. Hillary and Bill Clinton spared no expense for their digs in the Hamptons — shelling out a cool $100k for a three-week stay in one of America’s most exclusive summer destinations.

It is astonishing that someone who referred to themselves as “dead broke” a few years ago can now put their feet up in an $18 million rented estate for a little R&R. Now that’s the American dream!

Clinton has been backpeddling ever since she said in an interview that she and her husband had no money when they left the White House, despite book deals in the wings and speaking engagements lined up, saying they were “dead broke.” No one bought it and instead it proved just how disconnected she has become to the average voter. She’s showing her true stripes once again by shacking up in a town filled with celebrities and millionaires.

This should not be the summer of extravagant trips when you are contemplating running for president. After a gaffe like that she should remain holed up in one of her many homes. She shouldn’t be flaunting her ... inequality.

How do you claim to be fighting for the little guy, in a party that demonizes the rich, and then live this lifestyle so utterly unequal to the people you want to elect you?

The Obamas are slumming it in comparison to the Clintons. Their Vineyard retreat is only assessed at $12 million.

The New York Daily News is reporting that the price tag for Clinton’s rental this year is nearly half of what they reportedly paid for their vacation home last year in Sagaponack, NY.

Democrats love to cast a shadowy doubt over how someone could have made so much money. Yet, these Dems certainly know how to live. Remember that this fall and all the way through 2016 whenever you hear anyone in their party going on about income inequality.
