Jaclyn Cashman is a political columnist and morning radio host for the Boston Herald. Jaclyn co-hosts “Morning Meeting” with Boston Herald’s chief political reporter Hillary Chabot. The news and political show is weekdays from 9am to noon on BostonHerald.com. It is also syndicated on WMEX 1510 AM in Boston and WCRN 830 AM in Worcester. Jaclyn writes a weekly column for the newspaper where she takes on the big news events of the week, often times political stories. The audience consists of well educated and politically savvy listeners. The show constantly breaks news that other media outlets rely on. On any given day, “Morning Meeting” may have congressmen or presidential contenders calling in. We hold politicians and news makers accountable and for that reason “Morning Meeting” is a trusted show where people come for news and analysis. Jaclyn is a proud unenrolled voter in Massachusetts- not affiliated with any party. Her show has no political slant, only bias toward smart people with good ideas that are fiscally responsible.
Jaclyn moderated the Boston Herald/UMass Lowell US Senate Debate for the Democrats running for John Kerry’s vacant seat.
As News Director, Jaclyn recently launched GoLocalWorcester.com in February, 2012. In the first four months, the website has received considerable media attention and nearly two million page views. GoLocalWorcester.com is a news and information website covering mostly central Massachusetts.
GoLocalWorcester broke several major stories in the first few months including Direct Air stopping service to Worcester Regional Airport. Contributors to the site include: Former Congressman Bill Delahunt, former State Treasurer Tim Cahill, political activist Grace Ross and former Beth Israel Hospital President Paul Levy.
Before entering the digital space, Jaclyn was a TV news anchor/reporter for six years. She was the 5:30 and 6:00PM anchor and political reporter at 22News, WWLP-TV in Springfield, MA. While there, she started a public affairs program called “22News In Focus” airing Sundays after “Meet the Press.”
During the weekly half-hour program Jaclyn interviewed a variety of guests including, US Senator John Kerry, Speaker of the House Robert Deleo, Attorney General Martha Coakley and Governor Deval Patrick. Jaclyn has covered Massachusetts stories ranging from wasteful government spending, to the death of US Senator Ted Kennedy, and President Obama’s visit to Martha’s Vineyard. As the political reporter for 22News, Jaclyn covered the 2006 Governor’s race, the 2008 Presidential election and she reported from New Hampshire and Michigan during the primaries. She also covered the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis. Jaclyn received the Associated Press Award for breaking news coverage of the 2008 I-91 tanker explosion.
Jaclyn grew up in Boston and graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in 2004. She began her broadcasting career at WCVB as an intern and worked her way up as a writer for the EyeOpener. She started her on-air career in Binghamton, New York as the overnight producer / morning anchor.
Jaclyn launched a regional online newspaper, NewEnglandPost.com in August, 2011.
The website focuses on business, politics, health and lifestyle content.
